The Curse of the Data Lake MonsterJoan Clarke Stage
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is currently all the rage. Every organisation is trying to cash in on their data reserves.
We are often asked by our clients to help them build a Data Lake to kickstart their AI vision. Often it is envisioned purely as an infrastructure effort without clearly defined use cases. The presumption is, if we build a robust data infrastructure, use-cases will present themselves later.
In this talk, we argue that this type of data project is not exempt from product thinking. Like any other software product, Data Lakes should be developed in thin, vertical slices by cross-functional teams and proving their usefulness early and often. We look at an example case study of how this could be done.
