Dr Bernhard Schwarz
Bernhard Schwarz is responsible for the implementation and the go-to-market of new digital offerings and digital business models like the microscopy platform APEER at ZEISS Microscopy. In addition, he is driving the digital transformation across all functions.
With a strong background in engineering, strategy development and business, Bernhard Schwarz is responsible for the digital solutions of ZEISS Microscopy since February 2018. The newly founded division develops and markets digital offerings which are independent from the hardware or which are manufacturer agnostic. Following an exploration approach, the dedicated cross-functional team from development to application, UX, sales and service is co-located in Munich. In close cooperation with the customer, new solutions are created – from individual customer solutions to broad platform models like APEER.
APPER is the newest marketplace for microscopy image processing applications in the cloud and it is intended to support researchers around the world to speed up research and collaborate on current science challenges.
Beyond these customer solutions, ZEISS and ZEISS Microscopy are digitalizing customer interactions, sales processes but are also expanding into service offerings like remote and predictive service offerings.
