Prof. Dr. Marco Huber is Professor for Cognitive Production Systems at the University of Stuttgart. His research focuses on machine learning, explainable artificial intelligence (xAI), sensor data analysis, machine vision, and robotics.
In addition, he is head of the Department for Image and Signal Processing as well as head of the Center for Cyber Cognitive Intelligence (CCI) of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA in Stuttgart. Prof. Huber received the Diploma degree and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Universität Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2006 and 2009, respectively. In 2015 he received thehabilitation degree in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. From 2009 to 2011 he headed the research group "Variable Image Acquisition and Processing" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, Systems Engineering and Image Evaluation IOSB in Karlsruhe. He then worked as a Senior Researcher at AGT International in Darmstadt, Germany, until 2015. From April 2015 to September 2018, Prof. Huber was responsible for product development and data science services of the Katana division at USU Software AG in Karlsruhe, Germany. At the same time, he taught as an adjunct professor (Privatdozent) in computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He has authored or co-authored more than 80 publications in various high-ranking journals, books, and conferences, and holds two U.S. patents and one EU patent.
