His current focus is Big Data and Data Mining. He is responsible for the Fraud And Security Analytic System (FASAS). FASAS is the platform for fraud detection and SIEM.
After studying computer science at RWTH Aachen, he worked in research for several years. Ulrich Heister has been working in the field of security since 1992. In 1996 he started his carrier within Deutsche Telekom. He has extensive knowledge in various security topics such as cryptography, security management, product development and big data. He has been involved in the development of encryption and authentication algorithms for mobile communications and has worked several years in security consulting. In addition, he worked for Telekom Laboratories (T-Labs), the research center of Deutsche Telekom, as project field manager in close cooperation with Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel.
